A Little About me,
MASUMI is a child of both Japan and the US. Born in Los Angeles her formative years saw her move betweenTokyo, New York, Washington DC, and finally Dallas - where she began her Singer/Song-writer career.
Playing in local restaurants and cafes, she earned a devoted following, just her and her guitar. She returned to Tokyo to enroll at the International Christian University. But the devastating 2011 Earthquake turned her life around. She was trapped in an underground cafe in Tokyo when the 9.0 magnitude tremor hit Japan. That day brought her back to herself, her dreams and true clarity of mind and heart. Three months later, she returned to the US to follow her passion in music, and eventually as fate will have it, the path to acting.
Many moons after graduating music school at LACMA, and after many late night gigs with her trio band, MASUMI releases a very personal single about her own journey of depression and resurrection : "Run Baby, Run". It became her own fight song, in her own movie.
The following year in 2019 MASUMI landed the lead role in the action thriller 'Yakuza Princess,' alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers & Tsuyoshi Ihara, a milestone project co-produced by Warner Brothers, where she honed here skills in martial arts and katana, executing her own stunts with precision and passion. The film was released in US theaters, and garnered international acclaim, captivating a global audience and achieving a remarkable presence on the Global Netflix Top 10 List. In a short span at the outset of her career, she has been seen on NCIS : Hawai'i as a Guest Star, alongside Vanessa Lachey and Noah Mills, and currently in 2024, embracing the lead role in one of the world’s most renowned AAA interactive media franchises. Inspired by powerful icons, her work dives into the complexity of the human spirit, showing that in vulnerability lies immense strength.
Known for her authentic portrayal of strong, multidimensional Asian women, she carries into every project a passion for stories, and a reminder of the boundless potential and fire within every individual.
MASUMI's on a mission to prove to anybody that needs believing :
"if I can unveil my power, so can you."
